BMW 3325i

>> Tuesday, 9 March 2010

Now this is a sight that you seriously won’t see often – an E90 Sedan with almost the full range of BMW Performance add-ons installed. And I say this because the total cost of the full kit clocks in at RM103,300, which is what you’ll have to pay over what it costs to buy a 325i in the first place, which is over RM300k.

So that’s over RM400k, which is actually still not enough for a 335i since that twin-turbo baby in BMW Individual trim goes for over half a million bucks.

Here’s what went into this car, all from BMW Performance:

    * Carbon fiber mirror caps
    * Carbon fiber diffuser for M Aerodynamic kit
    * Carbon fiber front splitter for M Aerodynamic kit
    * Carbon fiber rear spoiler
    * Carbon fiber suspension cross-brace
    * Double spoke style 269 alloy wheels
    * BMW Performance brakes (with the yellow calipers)
    * BMW Performance air intake
    * Carbon finer interior trim
    * Illuminated door entry strips
    * Sports steering wheel with shift indicator

BMW Z2 Convertible

>> Thursday, 26 November 2009

I have to tell you that from what I think, this new BMW Z2 Convertible is one of the sexiest car built by BMW and even if probably no one said this, I’ll say: this car is built for young people that are wanting to make a good impression to a girl or even to attract other girls.

I also think that this new BMW Z2 Convertible is much more sexy than BMW Z4 because all the lines are coming to together in a very nice way which probably also makes this little cute sport car more aerodynamic.
This new BMW Z2 Convertible will have under the hood a 3.6 liter V6 engine. That engine will make this BMW Z2 Convertible to develop up to 625 bhp and also makes this little sport car to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in an amazing time of just 2.9 seconds. If you have this car, there is nothing more in life to need to be happier than that.

V10-Powered BMW M3 Wagon

>> Saturday, 7 November 2009

Attention to all sporty family man,if you want the convinience of the wagon,a german tuning outfit calling themselves Manhart Racing has the answer.

The German tuner has converted an E91 to look like the M3, then stuffed M5’s V10 into the engine bay complete with its seven-speed SMG drivetrain. The changes from a standard E91 3-Series Estate to a super wagon begins with the exterior, where the car gets the front fascia, front fenders, side skirts, and the powerdome hood from the M3.

They’ve also gone the extra mile by adding up their own rear wheel arches and rear fascia that makes room for a stainless steel exhaust system sporting quad exhaust tips. Next, the 5.0-liter V10 gets stuffed into the engine bay along with the the gearbox, and a limited slip differential is mounted out back.

2009 BMW 335i and 330d LCI Review

>> Monday, 28 September 2009

BMW has definitely been listening to the grouches from consumers about the 3-er’s styling. Frankly the slightly oddball cues were made even worse by the E92 3-Series Coupe released later which looked perfect, hardly anything to complain about. When the M3 Sedan came out it had the benefit of the 3 Coupe’s front-end, while the Sedan soldiered on with the flat kidney grilles until this facelift.

The 3 Facelift returns to a 1-piece kidney grille design. The bonnet gets a new set of crease lines in the middle that’s meant to look like the narrow and sharp nose of a Formula One car. The bumper is also different. Headlamps have been revised to use LED signal indicators.

On the side, there is an additional line carved into the side skirts give the side profile a little more character and it helps with the car’s stance as well because of the way it curves from the front to the rear. The side mirrors are also larger to offer a larger view to the driver.

On the rear end, the butterfly lights are finally gone and we’re back to the traditional L-shape design of the E46. Because of the reshaped tail lamps, the boot lid has also been redesigned. The tail lamps have two strips of LEDs into them, which seems to be a new design direction for the tail lamps of all BMWs these days, something that was also found on the E39 5-er. Like the front, the signal lamps light up with LEDs. The rear is supposed to look wider because its rear track has been widened by 24mm thanks to a new wheel carrier and other modified suspension parts.

Photo BMW X6

>> Saturday, 23 February 2008

The most potent 2008 BMW X6 will be sold with the rather awkward-looking xDrive50i badge, meaning that there is a 4.4-liter V8 beast under the hood, churning out impressive 400 hp and 450 lb-ft (597 Nm) of torque and transferring it to the wheels via a full-wheel-drive transmission. The company claims that with so much power ready to rock, the vehicle will take only 5.3 seconds to jump from zero to 60 mph.

Less powerful X6 xDrive35i will sport a 3.0 inline six-cylinder engine, capable of producing only 300 horsepower and 300 lb-ft (407Nm) of torque.

SPY PHOTOS: BMW M3 Coupe Cabrio

>> Tuesday, 15 January 2008

More and more revealing pictures of the upcoming BMW M3 are circulating on the web and in magazines. Expect the BMW M3 Coupe to make its official debut at the car show in Frankfurt in September 2007. But for those of you who like to enjoy the sun while driving some fast laps on the famous Nürburgring, the word is still patience.

The cabriolet version of the M3 is not going to be on the market until 2008. Powered by a V8 with 400-plus bhp derived from the V10 from big brother M5, this is going to be one fast hairdryer. Gearbox will be the SMG sequential transmission, but expect a double-clutch transmission later on. BMW is developing a version of the DSG and it will suit the M3 ideally. Just like on the normal 3-series this will be a 4-seater CC with a retractable roof.

The M3 version will stand out with its wider fenders, newly designed bumpers with bigger air intakes and of course the four pipes exhaust system.

The pictures show an M3 CC prototype during winter test in northern Sweden, almost without disguise, just the bumpers are covered. The powerdome on the hood is fake

BMW M3 : Best Overall Car of the Year

>> Sunday, 6 January 2008

It’s no contest when it comes to top-end performance car stars – the BMW M3 is a standout winner in the 2007 Drive Car of the Year awards.

Technologically advanced. Beautifully built. Finely engineered. Deceptively quick. And there's comfortable seating for four adults. BMW's new-generation M3 wins our biggest gong by redefining luxury performance motoring.

Controversy and car awards go hand in hand, and our selection of the BMW M3 as Car of the Year is unlikely to be an exception to that rule.

BMW 535d

>> Tuesday, 25 December 2007

At the 2007 Detroit Auto Show, BMW was prominently displaying their diesel engine technology, particularly the latest 3.0L twin turbocharged in-line six cylinder. At the time, BMW spokesman Daniel Kammerer told us that BMW would be introducing that diesel engine to the U.S. market later in 2008. BMW still hasn't said which vehicles would get the diesel although it's expected that that the first installations will be in the X5 SUV and 5 series sedans and possibly the new X6 crossover.

Here at the AutoblogGreen Garage we just couldn't wait another whole year to try out a diesel BMW and when we found out that Bosch had one the pestering began. As a supplier of diesel engine fuel and emission control systems, Bosch has a vested interest in the success of diesel engines. To that end, they have brought over a fleet of European diesel vehicles, many of which are expected to be on sale in the US over the next couple of years. Earlier this year we sampled the Chrysler 300 and Smart ForTwo diesels. The Chrysler in particular was very impressive, but this BMW was in a whole different class. Find out how the BMW 535d fared in the ABG Garage after the jump.

BMW Gran Turismo development gets serious

>> Thursday, 20 December 2007

We already knew that a production version of the CS Concept BMW debuted at the Shanghai Auto Show was in the automaker's product plans. Dubbed 'Gran Turismo', the four-door technological tour de force took a serious step toward reality today when BMW announced that Gerhard Richter, a manager at BMW M GmbH, is taking over control of the car's development. While he's adding that little bit of M flair to the Gran Turismo, Albert Biermann will be taking his place developing M models for the rest of us to enjoy. While BMW didn't release any real details about the production version of the Gran Turismo, it did say that the car "will round the BMW product range upward as important technology carriers." That's the broken English of our translation, but you get the point. Like we said before, it'll be a technological tour de force.

BMW 1 Series

>> Thursday, 29 November 2007

One of the most eagerly awaited new vehicles is the BMW 1 Series. It’s essentially a smaller and less expensive — but no less capable — version of the venerable 3 Series. “The BMW 1 Series is spot-on — this one’s a winner,” Wolkonowicz says. “They did an absolutely perfect job with that car — it goes like hell, looks great, is very distinctive and has great proportions.”

The 1 Series fills a void left by the 3 Series as it perpetually grew in size and price. R.L. Polk’s Gravigny says that BMW may have turned off potential buyers in recent years by pushing the 3 Series up market, which makes the 1 Series “a smart way for BMW to capture a younger audience.”

2009 BMW X6

>> Monday, 19 November 2007

BMW is introducing a new sports activity coupe here in the U.S. sometime early next year called the X6. The BMW X6 concept shown at this fall's Frankfurt Auto Show was a thinly veiled version of the real X6 we will see here next year.
The production BMW X6 will be manufactured at the company's SUV plant in South Carolina, and it will look almost exactly like this concept when it arrives in early 2008. Unlike the conventionally styled BMW X3 and X5, the company's five-door SUVs, the production X6 will have seats for only four occupants, with much less rear-seat headroom and a very small cargo compartment by comparison. That's part of the Sports Activity Vehicle concept, though we'll likely call it an SUV. Think of it as an SUV take on four-door coupes such as the Mazda RX-8 and Mercedes-Benz CLS.

BMW has shown two strikingly different concepts of the X6, a high-riding SUV that's a four-door coupe version of the 6 Series and a hybrid version of the same hatchback coupe that was claimed to get about 20 percent better fuel economy than the standard version, with a concomitant reduction in tailpipe emissions.

The production version of the X6 is expected to offer the 4.8-liter V8 and 5.0-liter V10 engines available in the BMW 6 Series and M6 coupes, and it may use the twin-turbocharged inline-6 from the 3 Series as a base engine. We don't know, they haven't officially said yet.

BMW 635D

>> Friday, 16 November 2007

I remember some time in the past, a group of friends and I were discussing about BMW and it’s turbodiesel technology. We were saying that while BMW has put alot of work into turbodiesels, it still would not have treated diesel technology at the same par as petrol engines until they put a turbodiesel into the Z4 and the 6-series.

Well, if insider news are to be taken seriously, then turbodiesel is now half-way there in BMW’s eyes. Together with the upcoming imminent facelift of the BMW 6-series, BMW is said to be launching a new variant to complement the existing 630i, 650i and M6 - a BMW 635d with the same award winning 3.0 liter twin turbocharged straight-six turbodiesel engine which made it’s world debut in the BMW 535d. With 272hp at 4,000rpm and 560Nm of torque from as low as 2,000rpm under the 535d’s hood, it pushes the mid-sized luxury sedan from 0-100km/h in 6.5 seconds, so expect similar performance statistics for the BMW 635d.
